Have you heard of “rounding up hours”?

When attendance is managed manually, even via Excel reports, if the employee is the one to fill in the hours, there is a tendency to round up the hours reported.
If an employee whose work day is supposed to start at 08:00 arrives at 08:09, he’ll usually write 08:00, so that on that day, his workplace paid the employee for 9 minutes that he wasn’t at work for.
The same goes for end of day.
We don’t purport that rounding up is necessarily done with ill intent, but in many cases, it’s more appealing to the eye to see a round number.
This results in increasingly more reports of inaccurate hours and multiply that by the number of employees who report hours manually.
Subsequently, businesses unnecessarily pay for tens and hundreds of hours.
